Hello everyone,
A lot of users were tired of having to re-upload their theme with every forum update so as of Mingle Forum version 1.0.03 I have moved the forums skin folder to /wp-content/mingle-forum-skins/. You will need to upload your skins to that directory now. I know it's kind of annoying but the nice thing is that now you'll only have to do it once instead of after every update! You're welcome ;)

Some Important Things To Note:

  • Do NOT rename, move, delete, or change the Default theme in the plugin folder. Leave it there or bad things will happen. If you like it then make a copy of it into the /wp-content/mingle-forum-skins/ folder. You will need to also Rename the Folder from "Default" to something else and change the actual skin name inside Style.css -- (To do this open Style.css in the skins folder and change the name near the top of that file)
  • Do NOT name any themes in the /wp-content/mingle-forum-skins/ folder to "Default" or again, bad things will happen.
  • Some hosts have security features in place that block the forum from automatically creating the folder in /wp-content/mingle-forum-skins/ If that's the case you may need to manually create that folder using your file manager or FTP client.

Hi there

Just upgraded to the latest version of the Forum and am running Wordpress 3.00.

In the admin panel of Wordpress 3.00 under Mingle Forum Skins - there is no default skin there at all.

I've looked on the server and can't see the new directory you mention either to put the other skins in.

Do I need to create the directory myself?

Okay, that worked :-D

BTW, the default skin showed up in admin panel (along with your message) after I uploaded one of the other skins to the server, prior to that it was a blank page.

Glad you got it figured out. Ya, even though the default skin isn't in the same folder as the rest of the skins anymore it won't show up until the mingle-forum-skins folder has been created. I know why this is happening and will try to have a fix for that in the next release. Thanks for the heads up!

I followed the blurb and see the new directory... I placed the Black skin directory/folder in that new folder. I go to the Mingle / Skins and I see the new Black there... but each column has the word "array" in it with a black screenshot. Now when I pull up the Mingle Forum, it is black, but many icons are not there anymore. What did I do wrong?

Check the permissions on the folders wp-content/mingle-forum-skins/ set them to 777

Sorry, I failed to mention I am running a Windows Home Server. There are no permissions.

What server package are you using? I've used WAMP Server XAMPP without any problems.

I have no idea what you are asking.. server package? I am using Windows Home Server which is the same as Windows Server 2003. And I am using a plugin to Wordpress to use your mingle. But since you changed the folder/directory, it appears when I put any new skin in that folder, it doesn't recognize it and shows a blank screenshot and the rest of the colums say "array". Being a C programmer, sounds like a software problem in the program.

It's more likely a problem with the way your Windows server is setup. The programming is fine as far as I can tell, over 3000 downloads and you're the only one to have this issue so my guess is it's your server setup but I'm not sure where to tell you to even start looking.
Make sure the structure is as follows "wp-content/mingle-forum-skins/mfBlack/"

Yeah, I'll keep looking around to see if I can find the problem. The directory was created by your update. I think the directory is fine otherwise it wouldn't see the new skin when placed in there. Maybe the download got messed up somehow... so I'll try to re-download the black skin and see if that might be the problem...

Well, I am about out of options and can't find anything wrong. If I activate the new plugin that has nothing but "array" across the row and then goto the forum, every icon is blanked out, but it does change color. So it is reading some of it and maybe it is losing it global variables or something. Maybe it is just the Windows Home Server.
